Review: Fun Factory Astrovibes Aries

I was dying to see what Fun Factory was all about. I know they have quite a following, and with good reason from what I could see. Whimsical designs and creatures with the most endearing faces, bright colors and body safe materials all mixed together into seriously practical, pleasurable toys. Fun Factory makes lethally adorable butt toys, I mean, how can you be intimidated by the Witty Worm or Flexi-Felix? Not to mention their seriously elegant strap on dildos, such as the Magnum or the Bandito. Then I stumbled upon the Astrovibes, a line of toys based on the classic torpedo vibrator, featuring all the astrological signs. I am an Aries, and lucky duck, my sign is (in my opinion) one of the best in the batch. I was delighted to receive the Aries Astrovibe for review from Eden Fantasies.
Aries ram face on the tip of the vibe. Aww.

The packaging for Fun Factory's toys is awesome. It is super informative, unisex, attractive, discreet and modern. There is nothing overtly sexual or obscene about it. It is a basic box with a plastic insert that cradles the vibe inside and on the back you find all kinds of info about the toy. Included is a pamphlet about other Fun Factory goodies, and a complementary packet of Toy Fluid lubricant (awesome!) comes with the Aries Astrovibe. The packaging could certainly be reused as storage, particularly the plastic insert. I store mine in a toy box with the batteries removed (always a good idea!)

The Aries Astrovibe is made of high quality medical grade silicone. This one is bright red and has an adorable cartoon-esque ram face as the tip. The ram is just too cute, with curly whirly horns and a little grin. It runs on two AA batteries that go in the base, with an adjustable twist low to high dial on the battery cap. All in all, the whole thing is an artistic twist on a classic smoothie/torpedo style vibrator. The silicone is supple and bendable (above the motor anyway) and has a velvety matte finish. Lint sticks to it like crazy, but it is super nice feeling so it's an okay trade I guess. The Aries is 7½" long with 6½" of insertable length and is 1-5/8" in diameter at the widest point.

The Aries Astrovibe has a medium amount of power, it's a pretty average vibe as far as this goes. The quality of the vibrations are more throbby than buzzy, definitely the lower kind that I'm fond of. I simply cannot orgasm with falcetto style vibrations, it is insanely frustrating. The kind the Aries gives out are more penetrating, I can feel them going into my flesh (in a good way, lol) versus dancing along the surface. It can take a little longer than with really strong vibes, but the Aries Astrovibe can at least get me off if I'm patient.

The motor is about halfway down the length of the toy, which is good and bad. Good because the upper half has a nice bend and give to it, so you can apply pressure on you clit. Bad because the vibrations would feel stronger if they were closer to the end. Though they do transmit through the toy nicely, more power is never a bad thing in my book. As far as volume, is isn't terribly loud, it makes a very average amount of noise. Noticable, but easily masked by a blanket, or a fan, or a closed door. The length of the toy gives one plenty of room to hold onto when using it externally (on my clit or labia) without cramping your hand up. This helps me hold onto it both during sex with my partner, and solo play.

As far as penetration goes, the Aries Astrovibe feels rather filling and offers some interesting texture due to the ram design. The shaft of the toy is straight, so it doesn't really seek out my G-spot like curved toys do. It is really nice to trust with though, the length is great for this. You just have to be careful to not hit the dial on the base and either turn it on or off accidentally. Oops. And, the texture of the velvety matte silicone feels fabulous inside. It is nice and silky when lubed up, and has a slightly grippy feel to it. The vibrations, are pleasant internally if I am in the mood for it. This is just a personal thing. I'm kind of finicky when it comes to internal vibrations. Sometimes it is amazing and feels just right, other times overwhelming and bothersome. It does provide quite a buzz used as a dildo and turned way up.

The Aries Astrovibe is not designed as a butt toy, so it isn't really safe for anal use. No flange or flare is present to keep it from slipping too far into the rectum. Fun Factory does make several anal plugs, and anal safe dildos though. There is the Bootie, the Bloomy and the Cavalier and more.

Of course no silicone lube should be used with the Aries Astrovibe, as it is also made of silicone. Go with a water based lube for this toy. Oil based lubricants are safe to use with silicone, but I like to use glycerin free lubes for vaginal toys myself. Do note though, that Toy Fluid (the included lube) does contain glycerin, which can be troublesome for some pussies as it is a sugar product.

Lastly, some notes on cleaning. The Aries Astrovibe is sadly, not waterproof or even splash resistant. So no boiling it, or running it through your dishwasher. You can sterilize the surface with a 10% bleach solution, just be careful to not get any on or in the battery cap. Always take the batteries out when you clean your vibe. Washing it with hot water and regular/antibacterial soap is fine for regular cleaning. I really like Afterglow toy wipes, they do a great job of cleaning with no water involved, leaving the toy nice and fresh.
In my hand for size reference.
